What does it mean to “bind” a policy?

Updated over 2 months ago

Binding a policy means your coverage becomes active, and the insurer has accepted your application under the stated terms. Once a policy is bound, you’re protected as of the effective date listed, even if some paperwork or signatures are still pending. Most insurers require all documents and signatures to be completed soon after binding to keep the policy active.
